Lawson Tate, Sandpoint Director of Soccer 

Tate, a Sandpoint native, has been coaching youth soccer for over two decades, ranging from introductory and rec league, to juniors developmental, traveling select, and premier academy levels. He was a coach of Sandpoint High School’s dynasty program from 2004 to 2010, during their golden era of state championships.

He holds foundational U.S. Soccer Grassroots coaching licenses and is currently pursuing mid-level licensure.

As a coach, Lawson is known for his energy, optimism, and passion for the game. He creates unique, fun, and challenging environments that develop technically superior, intelligent, and resilient athletes.

Lawson's own soccer journey includes playing for various youth clubs and earning the Scholastic Athlete of the Year Award in 2001 during his collegiate years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver.

Beyond soccer, Tate is deeply involved in civic leadership, serving as a city commissioner for 16 years. Professionally, he works as a real estate manager with the State Land Department and is also an entrepreneur managing boutique development and housing projects.

In his role with Albion SC, Tate expresses his honor in supporting coaches and developing academy players. He values Albion's elite program and established pathways into high-level leagues and showcase events, and especially the program's renowned success in collegiate scholarships and professional placements.

His philosophy emphasizes prioritizing players’ technical development and maximizing growth opportunities both on and off the pitch. Passion, resilience, and optimism are key values that guide his leadership and coaching approach.

Tate is dedicated to producing technically superior players who are well-equipped for success in all aspects of life. He cherishes being part of a program that values moral character, social connection, and healthy competition, recognizing that the company we keep shapes our experiences and achievements.
